How We
Classify Infestation Levels

ai-generated-IMAGE.png

Not every pest problem needs the same level of treatment. A few early signs of activity are very different from a widespread, established infestation.

Final treatment level is always confirmed by inspection.

At Killin’ It Termite & Pest, we classify certain specialty pest issues as light, heavy, or severe based on inspection findings, pest pressure, number of affected areas, sanitation or clutter conditions, access to treatment areas, and how much follow-up is likely needed. Final treatment level is always confirmed by inspection.

Infestation Level Comparison

Infestation Level
Roaches
Fleas
Rodents

Light

Early or limited activity. Usually a small number of sightings, limited to one main area, with no major sanitation, clutter, or widespread nesting concerns.

Limited activity caught early. Fleas may be present in one or a few areas, but are not heavily active throughout the home. Normal prep is usually enough.

Occasional signs such as light droppings, minor noises, or limited entry activity. No major nesting evidence, heavy contamination, or widespread damage.

Heavy

Established activity in multiple areas, visible roaches during service, signs of breeding, or activity requiring follow-up.

Active fleas in multiple rooms or repeated bites. May involve pet resting areas, furniture, rugs, or several living spaces.

Clear recurring activity, multiple signs of entry, or likely nesting. May require traps or bait stations and exclusion recommendations.

Severe

Widespread activity, roaches seen during the day, heavy pressure, multiple nests, or conditions requiring an aggressive cleanout.

Heavy flea pressure throughout, frequent bites, multiple rooms affected, or issues making treatment labor-intensive.

Broad contamination, strong nesting evidence, multiple entries, or exclusion issues requiring an involved plan.

1 Room / Localized Activity

Activity appears limited to one sleeping area or one primary affected room. This may include the main sitting area when applicable. Inspection and prep compliance are required.

3 Rooms Affected

Activity is present in three rooms or has clearly spread through multiple living or sleeping areas. Prep, access, and follow-up become more important.

Bed Bugs Are Priced Differently

Bed bugs are handled differently from roaches, fleas, and rodents. Instead of using light, heavy, and severe pricing, bed bug service is based mainly on how many rooms are affected, how much preparation is needed, and what the inspection shows.

2 Rooms Affected

Activity is found in two rooms or has spread beyond one isolated sleeping area. This usually requires more labor, more treatment time, and stronger follow-up expectations.

4+ Rooms / Broad Activity

Activity affects several rooms or appears widespread. Pricing, prep requirements, and follow-up needs may increase based on inspection findings.

Important Pricing Note

These descriptions are general guidelines. The final treatment level is determined by inspection. We do not increase the treatment level unless the inspection shows that a higher level is warranted. Severe activity, excessive contents, poor access, sanitation issues, skipped prep, or unusual site conditions may require adjusted pricing or a custom quote. For active infestations, startup treatment is usually the right first step before monthly maintenance makes sense.
